2DconjugatedMOFshaveattractedsignificantinterestsinrecentyearsowingtotheirspecialstructuralfeaturesandpromisingphysicalandchemicalproperties.Theseintriguingattributes,toalargeextent,stemfromthenatureofincorporatedligands.Theavailableligandsfortheconstructionof2DconjugatedMOFsarestilllimited,especiallythosethathaveheteroatomsincludedandexposedtothepores.Inthiswork,wedesignedandsynthesizedahighlysymmetrichexaazatrinaphthylene(HATNA)-basedligandwithtwodifferentcoordinationsites.Throughselectivecoordination,ahighlycrystallineandporous2Dconjugatedcoppermetal-organicframeworkwasconstructed.DuetothesynergiceffectsofHATNAandcoppercatecholatenode,thisHATNA-based2DconjugatedMOFcanmediatetheelectrocatalyticreductionofCO2tomethanewithhighselectivityof78?%athighcurrentdensityof8.2?milliamperespersquarecentimetre(mA?cm?2)forlongdurabilityover12?hours.
